Mark S. Wrighton is educated as a chemist with a BS degree from Florida State University and a PhD degree from the California Institute of Technology. He has been a faculty member in chemistry and academic leader at MIT (1972-1995), concluding there as Provost. He served as Chancellor of Washington University in St. Louis for 24 years (1995-2019) and then took on the presidency at the George Washington University in 2022 while on sabbatical from Washington University.
