What is your university all about?

Jönköping University is a young professional-oriented university, characterized by a high degree of internationalization, an entrepreneurial spirit, and extensive collaboration with surrounding society. The university is situated in southern Sweden on the shores of Lake Vättern. To the east of the city is the historic town of Huskvarna.

Why is international cooperation important for your university?

Jönköping University has a strong international profile, entrepreneurial spirit and highly successful collaboration with industry and the public sector.  Each year the university welcomes approximately 12000 students, of which 2 000 are international students. The university collaborates with more than 350 international partner universities and 800 partner companies.

Why is your involvement with SIREUS important for your university?

Jönköping University recognises the importance of long-term, sustainable partnerships and the value that they can add to education, research, and innovation.  Through involvement in SIREUS, Jönköping University is excited for the opportunity to build long-lasting collaborations with partners in the USA; promoting the creation and sharing of knowledge and working actively to address challenges of the future.

What is the most important aspect of the SIREUS project for your university?

Jönköping University is particularly looking forward to developing opportunities for student and researchers to collaborate with industry partners in the USA.  We also look forward to welcoming students from the USA to our globally oriented campus in southern Sweden.

Jönköping University is ranked as one of the 25 best-performing universities for student mobility and offers students, researchers and faculty the opportunity to be part of a truly international campus.  The university has developed unique models for engagement and collaboration with neighbouring society which offers students, researchers, and faculty unique opportunities for collaboration. This is manifested in student mentorship programs and practical work placements as well as research initiatives which are conducted in close collaboration with industry partners and societal stakeholders.

What can you tell us about life outside your university?

Jönköping city offers visitors a charming blend of historic buildings, alleys and canals which open the city up to city’s three lakes.  The region surrounding Jönköping offers nature lovers the opportunity to explore Sweden’s magical forests and lakes, visit the historic city of Huskvarna and explore the island of Visingsö with its traditional wooden houses, castle ruins and oak forests dating back to the 1830’s.
