What is your university all about?

Stockholm University is ranked among the world’s top 100 universities and one of Europe’s leading institutions for higher education within both human science and science. Why is international cooperation important for your university?

Stockholm University works actively to increase international collaboration – a prerequisite for research and education of high quality. Through alliances, partnerships and cooperation we collaborate with universities around the world. In international contexts, established networks play an important role in offering member universities a broad platform for knowledge exchange as well as strengthened collaborative projects of research and innovation.

Why is your involvement with SIREUS important for your university?

Stockholm University has a long history of collaboration with partner universities in the USA within the areas of research and education. SIREUS offers us the opportunity to strengthen and further develop existing research collaborations and student mobility agreements, as well as to initiate new ones.

What is the most important aspect of the SIREUS project for your university?

A priority will be to promote Stockholm University as a destination for high quality education, research and internships for incoming American students and researchers. Attracting more American students to Sweden, both through exchange agreement and to our master’s programs, is also an important part of the project.

Why should students, researchers and faculty spend time at Stockholm University?

Stockholm University is characterized by an international environment with research and education closely connected. Our researchers are also educators and contribute to the development of society. Stockholm University conducts independent basic research and impartial applied research of high caliber.

First-class education and research ensure that students get the most out of their studies. We have more than 75 study programs taught in English within a wide range of subject areas: science, social sciences, humanities and law. Stockholm University is also highly ranked in employability rankings.

What can you tell us about life outside your university?

In Stockholm you get to experience a unique mixture of rural and urban. While our main campus is surrounded by nature in a Royal National City Park, the busy city center is only a short bus or metro ride away. Stockholm is also the business- and cultural center of Sweden and home to many of Sweden’s decision-making bodies, businesses and cultural institutions. Being one of the most innovative cities in the world, Stockholm is a hub for tech companies and start-ups.
